Random Things

A year ago on facebook it seemed like everyone was doing the 25 random things about themselves list. I actually filled one out about me but then never posted it. I did not think that anything could possibly be interesting enough that other people would want to read it. The list was saved on my computer and forgotten about until I stumbled upon it today. I decided I might as well put it on my blog for all my friends to read.

1. I wish I could play the guitar. I had one sitting in my living room in China for three years. I still don’t know how to play it.
2. I don’t understand why people in America have to drive all over a parking lot to find a close place to park in. It would be so much easier (and healthier) to park in an available spot further away and walk.
3. I don’t like to fly. I often get sick on planes. I have thrown up on them on numerous occasions. Once I even threw up on the person next to me. (Yes, I was an adult at the time!)
4. My bedroom is always a mess. The rest of my house is usually spotless but my bedroom.... well, the door is usually closed. (I do have to point out that I wrote this list almost a year ago. While my bedroom is often messy, today it is clean!)
5. I used to laugh at people who had dogs and treated them like a member of the family. That is until I got Boaz several years ago. Now I can understand why they get so attached. I do have my limits though- he does not sleep in my bed.
6. I really love to bake! I enjoy eating what I have baked but even more than that, I enjoy watching others enjoying what I made.
7. For many years I have not wanted to admit that I am girly. It is only in the last couple of years that I have come to embrace my feminine side. ( I think that I have Molly to thank for this.)
8. I used to think that I was incapable of learning a new language. After all, I had lived in Ecuador for six years and had never really mastered Spanish. But now, by His grace, I am able to speak Mandarin Chinese.
9. I really like the color green. OK, I like lots of colors but green is my favorite.
10. I am too cheap to turn on the heat. I will sit in my home with many layers, feeling extremely cold and yet I will not turn it on. I would rather spend my money on other things.
11. I don’t like to drive. (Fortunately, I do not have to in China.)
12. I am not good at keeping in touch with old friends. I wish I was better at this. I am so thankful for Facebook because I am able to read up on what is happening in their lives.
13. I am a texture person. I may like the flavor of something I eat but will decide I don’t like it that much because the texture feels strange in my mouth.
14. I find new cultures to be fascinating. I would rather learn about people in the place I travel to than see the sites.
15. While I am an introvert, I am also a verbal processor. I find that it really helps to talk through things with a close friend.
16. I dislike being the center of attention.
17. I like spicy food!
18. I love reading books - especially when I am all curled up and am in comfortable pajamas.
19. I love being a student and actually really miss being one. However, I don't like Math. I sometimes still have to use my fingers to add things together.
20. I dislike it when people smoke around me (especially in taxis and elevators).
21. I have been to 12 countries and have lived (for two or more years) in four of them. I do hope that I will be able to travel to many more in the future.
22. I love Bath and Body Works lip gloss!!
23. I have a lot of gray hair. I started getting them in high school. I really have no choice but to dye it.
24. I had three childhood dreams. I wanted to become a singer, international worker, and teacher. Two of these dreams have been realized.
25. The concept of all nations worshiping Him together thrills and excites me. I can’t wait!
