Open House at the Parsonage

This past weekend was quite busy but it was also fun. We had a big Chinese Christmas Open House at the parsonage. My grandma, aunt, and cousin came from South Dakota to help with the festivities.

Outdoors and in were all decorated with a Chinese/Christmas theme. My mom had been planning this for a very long time and had me bring things back from China for the party.

We served some of my favorite foods. We had hot pot. This is basically a boiling pot of broth filled with vegetables, tofu, meat, and many kinds of fungus. I love hot pot and it was fun to introduce many new vegetables and mushrooms to our guests. Most people were good sports and tried the food even though it was "strange" to them. We also had Chinese dumplings and steamed buns.

For those who were not so adventurous, we also had many choices of traditional Christmas cookies.
The evening ended with the Watertown High school Carolers coming and singing for us. They sounded amazing and were fun to watch too!
