I missed it. The Chinese New Year that is. While we were surrounded by hearts, roses, and the colors pink and red, 1.3 billion people in China were ringing in the New Year. To be honest, not being in China to celebrate the holiday is nothing new for me. In fact, I am usually in Thailand during the New Year celebration. But, the reality that I am not in Asia during this very important holiday really does make me a little sad.
I am missing out on fireworks like you wouldn’t believe. I’m serious. The Chinese take fireworks to the extreme. They set them off for hours every evening for 15 days. It makes sleep hard to come by. You would have to have spent a Chinese New Year in China to know what I am talking about. They are beautiful , loud and incredibly frustrating all at the same time. :)
I want to wish all my Chinese friends a belated Happy New Year. I hope that you are having a wonderful Spring Festival with your family and friends.
