Questions people ask...

The following are questions people here in the States often ask me about China...
Can you use chopsticks?
Yes!
Have you eaten dog?
No...not that I know of.
Are you worried that your dog will be eaten?
No! Dogs that are eaten in China are raised to be eaten. They do not eat pets.
What is the strangest food that you have eaten?
I don’t know...maybe silk worms or chicken feet. I have also eaten fish eyeballs (although I have to admit that I have only swallowed them without chewing).
What is your favorite Chinese food?
I really like to eat hot pot. Hot pot is a big pot of boiling broth in the middle of the table where vegetables and meat are cooked (similar to fondue). I like to eat very spicy hot pot (in fact I like spicy food in general). I also really like to eat Chinese dumplings.
Do you have any American food in China?
Yes! The city that I live in has McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, DQ, Subway, 31 Baskin Robbins and Starbucks.
Do people like to drink coffee or do they only drink tea?
Many people do like to drink coffee. Coffee shops have sprung up all over the place. People still like to drink tea as well.
Can you speak Chinese?
Yes!
How many letters are there in Chinese?
Chinese does not have letters...they have characters.
How many characters can you read?
I am not sure...maybe 2000. That means I am virtually illiterate. I do not know enough characters to read the newspaper although I often can get the main idea.
Have you ever used a squatty potty?
Yes! In fact I prefer squatty potties when I am in public!
Do you have a squatty potty in your home?
No...I have a western toilet.
