A Day Made for Hunting...

Today was a crazy day. Actually, many days recently have been learning experiences. Getting the Culture Center ready to go has proved to be more work that I had originally planned. I have been on many adventures as of late. I thought I would walk you through the adventure I went on today. It started off with a trip to an old furniture market. My teammate and I decided that furnishing the coffee shop with old Chinese furniture would be the cheapest way to decorate. China has the greatest old furniture for very little money. We thought it would be fun to hunt this stuff down and fix it up. So, this morning we set out on one of our furniture hunts.

This may look like a pile of garbage. It is! The old furniture markets often have big piles of garbage like this nearby. Our Chinese friends think we are crazy because we like to fix up old furniture. But when they see it all done, they are impressed. I guess that one man's garbage really is another man's treasure.

A look down one the the rows of old furniture at the market.

We had a difficult time loading up the van with all our finds.

I even had to have a chair on my lap.

After we took all the furniture to our building, I decided to set out on a search for coffee cups. My teammate and I had already been on various searches for these. Not an easy task in country that drinks tea. Most coffee cups in the United States are made in China and yet they are only made for export. This makes buying coffee cups extremely difficult. So, after asking the Father to provide for us in this way, I set out an another search.

I ended up at a big storage place in the middle of nowhere. You see, I found a cup at a store that I liked. They said that they did not have that cup but they had others like it. I asked where. They said at a storage place. I asked them if they would be willing to take me there. After much persuasion they agreed to take me. So, I hoped in a taxi with one of the girls that worked in the shop. We got lost on the way there. When we found the place, I realized I was in middle of nowhere and there was little hope of ever getting home if the taxi would not wait. He agreed to wait for 10 minutes. The girl and I frantically began opening boxes in search of cups that might work. After about 20 minutes, we found some!

Even though today was somewhat stressful, the Father was so good. He really does answer our requests. We were able to find some great old furniture. He provided coffee cups that will match the colors we have picked out for the culture center. He also provided me with a very patient taxi driver. I am so thankful that on today's hunt, He was with me every step of the way!
