Fabric Market

Yesterday I went to the fabric market in the city I live in to make curtains for our office. The fabric market is one of my favorite places to visit in the city. There are rows and rows of fabric. It is a very overwhelming place to go if you don't know what you are doing. Fortunately, I have been there many times and have somewhat of an idea what I am doing.

I spent a good portion of the day on the curtain making process. After I arrived, I walked up and down the aisles trying to find something that might work in our office. (Unfortunately I did not really have something in mind which is a bit tough as there is just too much to look at.) I finally decided on yellow linen. Once I found the material, I took it to a tailor to have the curtains made. The tailors all sit outside in a row and you can just walk up to an available one to have them made right in front of your eyes. It took the tailor about a half hour to make them.

Although it was a long day, it was a successful day! The curtains are already washed and hanging up in the office.

An aisle of fabric.

One of the several rows of women with their sewing machines ready to make something for you on the spot.
This is the lady who made the curtains!

Anyone need any Chinese silk? This is one of several silk shops at the fabric market.

I love your blog. I have material bought for new bedroom curtains which I will take to the tailor this next week.

Mara, keep the blogs coming. It's the only way I keep up on my globe trotting nieces and nephews.
