Really, I am late in wishing you this as well. The Chinese New Year was a week ago. I was not here to celebrate it though. I was far, far away in a warm and sunny place. I was in Thailand! But, alas I am back in China and the New Year is technically still being celebrated. There are lanterns lit all over the place. You can still hear various rounds of fire crackers being set off throughout the day and night. The Spring Festival (AKA Chinese New Year) is the most celebrated and longest holiday in China. Most shops are still closed and the streets are fairly quiet as people are home with their families.
Our culture center/coffee shop is closed as well. We did celebrate the New Year together before everyone took off all over the country to head home (or in my case, to Thailand for a meeting). We ate Hot Pot. Yumm!
